Fish Story

As the morning sun creates a bright sunny day I know my old man is in the mood to go fishing. My old man, has aged well over time and is full of wisdom. I always look forward for fishing adventures with my dad. With our fishing baits cast out in the lake where we believe to be the idea spot to get a catch of a few big fish a conversation gets started.  Yep, the silence is broken by pops saying something like already for you to bite now fish come on and usually shortly after he’ll say loudly fish on.

Pop baits his hook again with a red worms  sharing stories of his youth, weaving a tapestry of memories that blends with the reflection of the sunlight on the water.

I listened, absorbing the tales of adventures, of hard work stories, and some simple joys he experienced along his path of life.

Together, we cast our lines into the water allowing the baited hooks to go down to a depth of around ten feet at this particular spot. Patiently waiting for a tug that would bring excitement to the stillness of the bobber or even sink the bobber for the next catch. As usual it’s happen again today time seemed to be slow, allowing us to savor the connection between generations.

As we sat side by side, the old man imparted not just fishing techniques but life lessons. The art of patience, the importance of resilience, and the beauty of finding peace in the simplicity of nature. And me, eager to learn, absorbed these lessons like a sponge, grateful for the shared moments that strengthened our bond.

Eventually, a tug on the line broke the conversation. Both pop and I sprang into action, to reel in our catch we happen to hook one about the same time Laughter filled the air as we celebrated the victory, the joyous sound echoing across the water.

As the sun moves pass noon towards evening, we pack up our gear and agree to leave the lake with another fun adventure for our memories bank yes the memories made during this peaceful fish adventure is going to have its place, in our hearts to reflect on throughout the balance of life. We walked away, not just with a string of freshly caught fish but with a shared experience of doing something really fun together.

It’s finally time to stop fishing (usually the worst thing a fisherman has to do) head home but as always today has been another great fun adventure.
